MODESTO -- A man suspected in a 2010 murder in Waterford was booked at the Stanislaus County Jail early Thursday morning.
Jose Luis Solis Jr., 32, of Waterford is accused of shooting 27-year-old Billy Miller in the chest on May 14, 2010.
Deputies found Miller dead on the stairs of an apartment complex near Dorsey and E streets.
Miller and Solis knew each other and were fighting prior to the shooting.
Authorities said Solis lived in the apartments and Miller frequented them. Miller lived in Ceres, but the address on his driver's license was the same as the suspect's.
Solis is being held at the men's downtown jail on $1 million bail.
He is charged with murder with an enhancement of using a sawed-off shotgun. He also is charged with possession of a dangerous weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Authorities could not be reached to comment on where or how Solis was located more than two years after the shooting.
