MJC water polo routs Fresno City

Kendall Reilly scored four goals and goalkeeper Ellisa Williams collected 11 saves Wednesday afternoon to lead the Modesto Junior College Pirates to a 14-6 Big 8 Conference water polo victory over Fresno.

The Pirates (2-10, 1-1) built a 6-2 halftime lead and extended it to 10-3 after three periods. Hannah Tolomei, Kristine Groteguth and Priscilla Acosta had two goals apiece for Modesto, and Priscilla also contributed three assists.

Also scoring for MJC were Lenicia Lopez, Alexis Wheeler and Patrice Parks.

Cross country

• HOBBY HONORED —MJC freshman Becky Hobby was named the Big 8 Cross Country Athlete of the Week for her third-place finish at last weekend's George Brooks Memorial Viking (Diablo Valley) Invitational. Hobby, the league's top finisher in the event, led the Pirates to second place in team standings.
