Non-league games don't stress the Modesto Junior College women's soccer team.
The Pirates' final warmup before the start of the Big 8 Conference season produced a 1-1 tie against defending Bay Valley champion Solano on Tuesday at the MJC West campus field. The MJC sophomores, part of a team that reached the NorCal semifinals last year, were 11-0-3 in non-league games. The Pirates drew even in the 30th minute on a goal by Yajahira Valdivia assisted by Annabel Perez.
MJC MEN WIN The Pirates (5-1-1) gave up two goals in the final five minutes but still held on to win 3-2 at West Valley.
Rodrigo Aldana and Elias Venegas accounted for goals, and a corner kick by Matthew Rodriguez was deflected into the net by a West Valley defender. MJC begins defense of its Big 8 title Friday at home against Santa Rosa.
