Police: Modesto man caught carrying pot plants on bicycle

MODESTO -- Modesto police arrested a man they said was riding a bicycle down the street, carrying three fully grown marijuana plants.

"They looked like Christmas trees," Lt. Jolene Gonzales said. According to Gonzales, Scott Drake, 48, was stopped in the area of Bahia Way and Floyd Avenue at 2:30 p.m. Friday.

As officer Sean Kelly was talking to Drake, someone came up and said Drake had just stolen his bicycle.

"Not only did he probably steal the plants from someplace, the bike he had was just stolen around the corner at the store," Gonzales said. "We arrested him for transportation of marijuana."
