Eric Nadworny is Save Mart Supermarkets' new chief human resources officer and chief legal officer, while Greg Hill is taking over as chief financial officer.
Nadworny is responsible for leading the human resources, labor relations, risk management, compliance and legal functions for the Modesto- based grocer. Nadworny has worked at such companies as Ross Stores, BJ's Wholesale Club and Shaw's Supermarkets.
Hill will oversee the finance, information technology, business analytics, strategy and business development, and internal audit functions. Hill has worked for Price Waterhouse (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) and other companies in the public and private sectors.
Col. Gerald Brunn recently retired from the Army Reserve after 33 years of service. His assignments included staff judge advocate for the U.S. Army, Japan; dean of the Judge Advocate General's Legal Center and School; and law professor at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.
Upon retirement, the secretary of the Army awarded Brunn the Legion of Merit for "educating, training and inspiring the next generation of Army officers. He fulfilled every assignment and duty with great distinction. His superior work ethic, outstanding professionalism and dedicated leadership will have an immeasurable, positive impact upon the United States Army for years to come."
Brunn continues to serve the Army as an admissions representative for West Point, and he is a member of Reps. Jeff Denham's and Jerry McNerney's academy nomination committees. He practices law in Modesto at the law offices of Brunn & Flynn.
The A&W Drive-In at 14th and G streets in downtown Modesto recently had its franchise license renewed through June 30, 2022. Johnny Matthews, owner of the restaurant, boasts that of his 10 employees, three have worked at the drive-in for more than 13 years, including manager Jennifer Rushman, an 18-year veteran who preceded Matthews' ownership. Julie Hale and Yvonne Moran have been with him for 13 years, and six others for more than five years.
