My wife and I would like to respond to quite a few negative online comments to the article on Sept. 8 about the BMW that hit and killed a 50-year-old bicyclist. This man on the bike was my brother. There were quite a few nasty comments about homeless people and running them down with your cars. Just because they are homeless does not mean they are all criminals.

My brother had a family that loved him and cared about him. He was going through hard times. If that was your brother who had been killed, would you be saying the same thing?

The police are still investigating and will find out what happened, but my brother is dead, hit by a 4,000-pound vehicle, and we will never be able to talk to him again. Just because you see some people one way does not mean everyone in that situation is the same!
