-- A federal grand jury in Fresno has indicted a Modesto man on a single count of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

According to court documents, a traffic stop and subsequent search on March 23 revealed that Luis Miguel Villalobos, 19, possessed 6½ pounds of methamphetamine concealed in the vehicle. Villalobos is scheduled to be arraigned today before U.S. Magistrate Judge Dennis Beck in Fresno.

If convicted, he faces a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison. The actual sentence would be determined at the discretion of the court after considering any applicable factors and federal sentencing guidelines.

This case is the product of a joint investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the California Highway Patrol.
