Los Banos boy, 14, critical after shooting

LOS BANOS -- Los Banos police are investigating the shooting of a 14-year-old boy late Tuesday. At 11:17 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 200 block of West I Street.

When officers arrived, they learned the teenager had been taken to Memorial Hospital Los Banos. Police said the boy was suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

He was flown to a Modesto hospital, where he remains in critical condition. He was unable to provide a statement about what happened. Police ask anyone with information to call Detective Justin Melden at (209) 827-7070, ext. 114.
