-- Representatives from the Mexican Consulate in Sacramento were on hand in Riverbank on Saturday to help Mexican nationals apply for Mexican passports and ID documents.

Hundreds turned out for the event. Passports and IDs were made on site, once documents were reviewed, fees paid, photos taken and fingerprints made. Even though 350 appointments were made, many just dropped in and waited.

“Everyone will leave with their documents. We will stay until everyone is taken care of,” said Sergio Ochoa Sanchez, consulate general of Mexico in Sacramento coordinator.

Yessenia Martell of Modesto has dual citizenship, United States and Mexico. “Where there is a will there is a way,” she said of the two- to three-hour process to get her Mexican passport. “You might as well enjoy yourself while you are here. Be positive. It’s either time or money.
