Holiday DUI crackdown nets 75

This year's summer-Labor Day holiday crackdown on driving under the influence netted 75 arrests as of Sunday.

The "Avoid the 12" operation — named for the participating law enforcement agencies in Stanislaus County — reported those arrests from 12:01 a.m. Aug. 17 to midnight Saturday.

The numbers, although provisional, are down from last year's 113 arrests during the same period. Enforcement continues through the end of the holiday weekend; a DUI task force operation is planned for tonight in Oakdale.
