Oakdale police seek rapist

OAKDALE -- Detectives on Saturday were looking for a man who raped a 23-year-old woman early Friday in Oakdale.

About 1:30 a.m., the woman was walking east in the 500 block of Greger Street, a few blocks west of Yosemite Avenue near the ConAgra Foods plant. Oakdale police officer Ben Savage said the woman stopped and sat on a curb. He said a man wearing a mask and with a "raspy voice" approached the woman from behind and grabbed her.

The suspect took the victim to a secluded area in a nearby vacant field and sexually assaulted her. The suspect then left. Savage said the victim was not able to provide further description of the suspect.
