A hearing Tuesday was continued until Sept. 21 in the lawsuit against the Diocese of Stockton and Sacred Heart parish in Turlock over the former priest and convicted pedophile Oliver O'Grady.

Stanislaus County Superior Court Judge Timothy Salter notified attorneys Monday that he is involved in a three-week trial and hasn't had time to review all of their documents.

The hearing was to determine if the lawsuit's 40-year-old alleged victim, who was an altar boy at Stockton's Church of the Presentation in the 1980s, qualified for an exception to the state's statute of limitations, which says that a victim generally must be younger than 26 to file a claim of childhood sexual abuse.
