Golden Gate coleslaw
Katherine Setliff of Riverbank enjoyed the slaw served at the now-closed El Faro in Modesto. She was hoping for the recipe or one similar. This recipe comes from Mary Keller of Rocklin who likes to use fresh ginger and substitutes the cilantro with dill or basil.
½ cup mayonnaise
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice
2 tablespoons sugar
¾ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon ground or 1 tablespoon fresh ginger
1 (16-ounce) bag coleslaw mix
2 tablespoons chopped cilantro
In a large bowl blend all ingredients. Chill well before serving.
Per serving: 259 calories; 1 gram protein; 15 grams carbohydrates; 22 grams fat; 10 milligrams cholesterol; 621 milligrams sodium; 3 grams fiber; 75 percent calories from fat.
