Info: Modesto City Schools Superintendent Pam Able is the speaker for the League of Women Voters August Lunch and Learn program. Her topic is "Modesto City Schools: Facts and Forecast." • AFTER-SCHOOL STUDY CENTER

Where: St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 3461 Merle Ave.

Info: St. Peter's Lutheran Church is accepting applications for the 2012-13 after-school study center. It provides homework help, supplemental curriculum and a safe environment for students of Savage Middle School. The center is open from 2:15 to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. • HIGH SCHOOL MUSEUM VOLUNTEERS

Where: Merced Courthouse Museum, 21st and N streets

Info: The Merced Courthouse Museum is looking for high school students from the area to help clean up the museum. Students must be from the county high schools, be at least 16 years old, put in an application and be able to volunteer at least once a month.
