Enforcement geared at pulling drunken drivers off the road continues this weekend in Stanislaus County.

Modesto police will be looking for drunken drivers at sobriety checkpoints tonight and Saturday night at undisclosed locations in Modesto.

In another effort, the Avoid the 12 campaign will conduct sobriety checkpoints at undisclosed locations in Modesto and Ceres tonight. The campaign consists of all 12 law enforcement agencies in the county. Also tonight throughout the county, the campaign will deploy "saturation patrols," which are carried out by officers assigned solely to look for drivers under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Saturday night, the campaign will conduct two more sobriety checkpoints at undisclosed locations in Modesto and Oakdale. Officers also will be looking for drivers without valid licenses at all the checkpoints.

The special enforcement is funded by grants from the state Office of Traffic Safety. The DUI enforcement will continue next weekend as partygoers look to celebrate Labor Day weekend.
