QB, Ripon Christian

Took RC to section D6 semifinal (1,800 yards, 18 TDs in 12 games) and he will have super back Andrew Brown (1,700 yards, 28 TDs) in the backfield again.

• Juan Gomez

TE/LB, Le Grand

Can Bulldogs win third straight section title? If Gomez can handle the heavy workload, he’ll be SL’s MVP and his team will be bringing home another pennant.

• Chase Gonzalez

QB, Turlock Christian

The 6-foot-6 Gonzalez (1,588 yards, 12 TDs, 17 picks) missed three games with injury. TC needs him standing tall in pocket, so the OL is as crucial as the QB.

• Dustin Slate

RB/LB, Le Grand

Key role on last year’s state bowl team, and was just a sophomore. At 5-9, 180 pounds, he plays taller and heavier — making him tough to tackle in open field.

• Joseph Cantu

RB/LB, Delhi

Third-year starter had 8.6 yards a carry last fall. His workload will increase and he’ll get touches near the end zone as Hawks try to parlay depth into wins.
