Career record: 11-20
Record at school: 11-20
Last year: Amador (2-8, 0-5) had a lean year, outmatched by its league foes and finishing with a 32-0 loss to Argonaut. The Buffs averaged just 14 points in league games.
Last league title: 2001
Last playoff berth: 2010
Coaching staff: Ray Johnson, Pete Brescia, Charlie Blankenheim.
Top returners: QB/SS Jacob Griffin (6-1, 190), RB/LB Justin Nichols (5-11, 90), RB/DB Quentin Johnson (6-0, 180), OL/DL Bryce Masten-Stewart (6-01, 280), OL/DL Alex Glocke (6-2, 285), TE/DE Ryder Johnson (5-10, 175), Ath Keith Thomas (6-0, 180), OL/DL Zack Wilsey (5-11, 185).
Top newcomers: RB/S Donald White (5-10, 160, jr.), RB/DB Shane Sweet (5-9, 160, jr.), TE/DE Chance Dominguez (6-1, 205, jr.), LB/G Grant Olin (5-9, 180), RB/DB Michael Bonilla (5-9, 180, jr.).
Outlook: Theres plenty of promise, with personnel moving up from an 8-2 JV team, as well as Griffin (714 yards passing, 10 TDs but he has to cut down his 17 INTs) and two steady RBs in Nichols (925, 7.3-yard average, 10 TDs) and Johnson (358, 6.1, 7). Three starters return to the OL, a crucial component in a league that often thrives on its powerful lines. The Buffs might have to fill out their lines, though, with juniors. Nichols also averaged 8.9 tackles a game, while Thomas picked off two balls.
Key game: Week 1 (Sept. 1) at Millennium. The Buffs were upset 28-12 by Millennium in last years opener and never recovered, but a win here and Amador could open 5-0 because it will be favored to win its next four.
