Coach: Jason McCoy

Career record: 19-23

Record at school: 0-0

Last year: Gregori (0-10, 0-6) staggered through its first varsity season, playing without seniors and giving up 53 points a game – scoring just eight. The Jaguars allowed 68 points a game in conference and its closest game was a 35-point loss.

Last league title: None

Last playoff berth: None

Coaching staff: Marcus Whitten, Richie Alkire, Eric Sonnenburg, Lamar Wallace, Bill Chastain, David Pinkett, Stewart Green, Kevin Crowell.

Top returners: RB/MLB Bobby Gentry (6-4, 225), RB/OLB Alec Pearson (5-8, 205), OL/OLB David Silva (6-1, 210), OL Tanner Ingle (6-3, 245), RB/DB Jesse Barker (5-10, 155), RB/OLB Darnell McGill (5-11, 215), QB Nate Phillips (5-9, 155, soph.), RB/DB Alex Labanon (5-8, 180, jr.), OL Austin Evans (6-1, 250), WR/DB Erik Kumar (5-9, 175).

Top newcomers: OL Matt Ramirez (5-11, 245, jr.), OL Brent umeston (6-1, 205, jr.), OL/DL Prerak Gandi (6-1, 205, jr.), OL/DL Aaron Taylor (6-2, 275, jr.), DL Jose Garcia (5-10, 270, jr.), TE/OLB Marcus Patterson (6-2, 245, jr.), OL Jason Goda (5-10, 235, jr.)

Outlook: The Jaguars gave up a whopping 62 points a game in conference and scored a total of 81 points over 10 games – Enochs scored 72 vs. Gregori on one night. … An inability to throw even short passes, and an unwillingness to put the ball in the hands of Wash whenever possible, doomed Gregori’s varsity debut. … Two head coaches are on staff – McCoy led Johansen last year, while Alkire led Beyer to its finest season and will work with the offense – and the Jaguars will have size on the offensive line. … Dominic Wash, the program’s lone playmaker from a year ago, has moved to Oakland and Gregori will need to find someone to replace his role. … This is Gregori’s first season playing with seniors.

Key game: Week 1 (Aug. 31). A trip to Ceres could produce the school’s first-ever varsity win, and the Jaguars could make it two in a row because they play struggling Bear Creek a week later.
