Modesto, Turlock children get a boost for back to school

The Salvation Army teamed with local Target stores on Tuesday to help 34 children in need — 24 in Modesto, 10 in Turlock — in buying school supplies, clothing and other necessities as the school year gets under way.

Each child participating in the Target School Spree was selected by The Salvation Army and awarded an $80 Target gift card.

Each child also was paired with a volunteer chaperone for the back-to-school spree.
