Modesto City Council Watch (8/12/12)

The Modesto City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the basement chamber of Tenth Street Place, at 1010 10th St. The council will consider the following items:

• Giving authority for the city manager to approve sidewalk sales. It would remove a step for getting the OK for sales held by merchant groups such as the Downtown Improvement District.

• A federal airport improvement grant offer of $183,250. The money would help pay for environmental studies required before trimming trees on the south side of Modesto Airport.

• A report from City Manager Greg Nyhoff on the Modesto arch restoration project and the arch centennial celebration set for October
