Officers with their guns drawn took a man into custody without any shots fired or injuries late Friday at a north Modesto home after police say the suspect brandished a large knife during a confrontation with officers.
Jonathan Carrillo, 23, was arrested on suspicion of possession of stolen property and violating probation.
Officers confronted Carrillo about 10 p.m. at the home in the 4000 block of Ballard Circle, just south of Pelandale Avenue and east of Prescott Road. Police had responded to a report of a family dispute at the home.
Modesto police Lt. Jolene Gonzales said the officers discovered Carrillo was creating the dispute, so they asked him to leave the home. Carrillo left, but returned to the home about 45 minutes later, and the family called police again.
The family told police they believed Carrillo was high on crystal methamphetamine. Officers arrived at the home and confronted Carrillo, who reached into his waistband.
Gonzales said the officers pulled out their guns and ordered him to stop. She said Carrillo pulled out a large knife.
The officers continued to point their guns at Carrillo and ordered him to drop the knife. Gonzales said Carrillo then dropped the knife and was taken into custody.
