If four square blocks packed with food, drink, dancing, wrestling both in mud and out roller derby and lots and lots of music sounds like the place you want to be, then X marks the spot in downtown Modesto tonight.
From 6 p.m. to 1 a.m., the 13th annual X-Fest will light up the summer night with 12 stages including rock, rap, reggae and hip-hop acts, plus DJs, Santa Cruz's Dancetronauts, Tournament of X pro wrestling matches, a model mud-wrestling pit, the SINtral Valley Derby Girls and a foam dance party.
The event is expected to draw 20,000 people.
X-Fest is held between H and J streets and 10th and 13th streets. Those streets were closed to traffic Friday night and will reopen at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Tickets for the 21-and-older event, put on by Chris Ricci Presents, are $20 in advance or $30 at the gate. They are available at a number of locations, including Boyett stations in Modesto, Oakdale, Salida, Riverbank and Ceres; La Perla Tapatias in Modesto, Ceres, Turlock, Patterson and Riverbank; Don's Mobile Glass in Modesto and Turlock; Car Audio Outlaws in Modesto; and Kwik Serv in Jamestown.
