Girlfriend held in Merced County slaying

A 27-year-old man was shot to death Saturday evening after a possible domestic dispute escalated at an El Nido mobile home park, Merced County sheriff's deputies reported.

The man's 20-year-old girlfriend has been arrested, Sheriff Mark Pazin said. Deputies responded to the park about 11 p.m. in the 10000 block of South Highway 59, just south of El Nido Road.

Authorities said Grace Azevedo had called 911, saying she'd shot her boyfriend, Roberto Azevedo, who later died at the hospital. Grace Azevedo was taken into custody on suspicion of homicide.

Pazin said although the couple shared the same last name, they were not married.
