World cultures in motion at Modesto festival

Youngsters put on displays from cultures around the world Saturday at the Children’s Cultural Arts Festival at the Maddux Youth Center in Modesto.

Timothy Gardere, 15, performed with a sword as part of the Twin Tigers Kung Fu display .Cassidy Thoeun, 9, and Naveck Sok, 4, performed a Cambodian dance. Emily Sem, 10, performed in Peacock of Pursat, a Cambodian folk dance.

The event also offered hip-hop dancing, music, art and community resource information booths.
