Freight train hits big rig near Turlock

July 26, 2012

A freight train hit a tractor-trailer filled with pears south of Turlock on Wednesday afternoon. Nobody was injured in the accident, according to California Highway Patrol officer Eric Parsons.

The accident happened at 5:30 p.m. at Golden State Boulevard and Daubenberger Road. The big-rig driver, whose name was not available, drove up onto the tracks and got stuck. He got out of the truck as the freight train approached. The train sustained minor damage, Parsons said.

The accident remained under investigation Thursday.
