Oakdale convenience store held up

Oakdale police are looking for a man who robbed the Valero Corner Store at 1590 E. F St., early Sunday.

Officers were called to the business after a clerk said a man entered, flashed a small silver or chrome handgun, and demanded money from the safe, said Sgt. Joe Johnson.

When she told the man she didn't have access to the safe, he demanded money from the register.

He fled northeast through the parking lot with a small amount of cash. No shots were fired, and nobody was injured, Johnson said.

The clerk was alone in the store. She said the robber appeared to be in his mid-20s or early 30s, had a thin build and was wearing sunglasses, a blue hoodie and a black mask or bandanna on the lower part of his face.
