Modesto Council Watch (7/9/12)

The Modesto City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the basement chamber of Tenth Street Place, 1010 10th St. The council will consider the following items:

• A $4.85 million contract with Knife River Construction of Stockton to build major improvements on Sylvan Avenue from west of Litt Road to Claus Road and on Litt next to the Mary Grogan Community Park site.

• A proposed agreement with the 211-member Modesto Confidential and Management Association until September 2013, requiring employees to pay their contribution for pension benefits and take 40 hours of unpaid time off in December. The agreement calls for a 1.5 percent across-the- board salary increase in July 2013.

• An agreement between the city and California Department of Transportation for maintaining the Pelandale Avenue- Highway 99 overcrossing after it's built.

• A proclamation setting aside Aug. 7 for National Night Out activities in Modesto.
