Modesto City Schools board members will rule on potentially controversial films for classes in a light agenda tonight. The item was continued from last month.
The films include "Anne Frank" for eighth-graders; for high schoolers, the "John Adams" HBO miniseries and "Recount" for government classes; and "The Godfather" and "Platoon" for a new American History Through Film course.
Also on the agenda: an engineering contract to redesign the Fairview Elementary parking lot; a $135,000 contract to ease the switch to Common Core standards; and allowing 55 teachers to teach without district-required certifications, mostly in English-learner strategies.
