-- Firefighters found two girls Wednesday evening who had been reported missing after entering the Stanislaus River on inner tubes.

The girls, ages 12 and 15, were found about 8:15 p.m. downriver of the McHenry Avenue Recreation Area after entering the river about 2:30 p.m. at Jacob Myers Park in Riverbank.

Battalion Chief Eric DeHart with Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Protection District said the girls were in good condition and were to be reunited with family at the recreation area.

Firefighters from Escalon and Oakdale took part in the search.
