'Anything Goes'
This is the final weekend of Modesto Performing Arts' production of "Anything Goes" at the Gallo Center for the Arts. Broadway veteran and Oakdale native Colleen Hawks-Pierce stars in the musical, which centers on wild antics on an ocean liner traveling from New York to London. Cole Porter wrote the score, which includes such hits as "It's DeLovely," "I Get a Kick Out of You," "You're the Top," "Blow, Gabriel Blow" and the title song. Hawks-Pierce plays Reno Sweeney, an evangelist turned nightclub singer. The show kicks off Modesto Performing Arts' 45th summer season.

MoBand finale
MoBand bids farewell to its current season with its "Summer's Best" program on Thursday at Mancini Bowl in Modesto. Music will consist of the band's favorite pieces played during the past few weeks. As always, audience members will spread their blankets early along the grassy bowl and bring picnic dinners to enjoy before and during the music.

Sweet Potato Fest
Livingston celebrates Independence Day and the venerable sweet potato in tandem this weekend. The Sweet Potato Festival runs today through Sunday at Memorial Park, with highlights including a talent show, food, a car show, craft booths, carnival rides and games for kids and adults. There also will be fireworks on Saturday, at dusk.

Patriotic Ironstone
Ironstone Vineyards spreads out the patriotic love to this weekend, holding its Fourth of July celebration on Saturday. Food, wine, bounce houses, climbing walls and games, and music from R&B band Chains Required, country band Whiskey Dawn and roots artist Shane Dwight will be on hand. A fireworks show begins at dark and lasts 30 minutes. Bring lawn chairs, blankets and sun umbrellas.
