Modesto's Soria named to U.S. youth baseball team

Modesto's Raul Soria has been selected to represent the United States at the Latin American Baseball Classic in August as a member of the 12-and-under national team. Soria, 11, has been billed as a player to watch by LABC-USA officials, combining size, athleticism and power. More than 1,500 children attended nationwide tryouts, and players from each region of the country were picked to fill out the various age group rosters. The 12-and-under squad will compete against the likes of the Venezuela and Puerto Rico national teams and top clubs from the Dominican Republic at baseball complexes in and around Santo Domingo, DR.
