Couples reaffirm vows to mark anniversary of Modesto church

MODESTO -- First United Methodist Church, which is marking its 150th anniversary this year, has seen quite a few white dresses and exchanged rings in that time.

As part of the celebrations, couples who were married in the downtown Modesto church got to repeat those vows Sunday during a Reaffirmation of the Marriage Covenant after the morning service.

"There is something special about standing as a community, a sense of solidarity, of 'We all need each other in this journey,' " said the Rev. Debra Brady.
