For donations beginning at $25, supporters of the Stanislaus County Library can leave their mark inside the main branch in downtown Modesto for years to come. Monday from 1 to 4 p.m. Stanislaus Library Foundation volunteers and employees of Color Me Mine will provide materials and help families create personalized ceramic tiles that will be displayed inside the building.

The Centennial Tile Project fund-raiser will help maintain and expand library services and materials. For example, the foundation funds the summer children's reading program and has donated $30,000 for the purchase of e-books, available at the library's 13 locations. The main library is at 1500 I St.

"You can be any age to create a tile," says the library Web site, "and use as much or as little artistic talent as you wish." A 6-by-6-inch tile is $25, while a 12-by-12-inch tile is $125.

To learn more about the Centennial Tile Project, contact Robert Dowd at (209) 595-9799 or robert.dowd@sbcglobal.net, or stop by Color Me Mine at 3501 McHenry Ave., (209) 545-9952.
