Turlock basketball player Avila signs with William Jessup

Lindy Avila, who graduated from Turlock High this spring, has signed a letter of intent to play basketball at William Jessup University in Rocklin. She's uncertain on a major, though Avila has an interest in sports broadcasting. A point guard, and four-year varsity player, she averaged nine points and six steals as a senior. "It's close enough to home, but far enough away to (be) on my own," said Avila, who signed with Jessup after being offered scholarship packages by five schools.
