Jake Myers, a sophomore at Modesto's Valley Charter High School, recently was named the winner of the 2012 18th Congressional District Art Competition. Jake entered his photograph titled "Blossoms" in Rep. Dennis Cardoza's annual contest for student artists.
Jake's photograph captures a beautiful setting sun as it casts its light on a branch of blossoms, a scene that many residents of the Central Valley can easily recognize.
"Blossoms" will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol complex in Washington, D.C., for one year, along with other winning entries from across the country.
Jake and a guest will attend a Capitol Hill ceremony to honor young artists from around the nation and officially unveil their artwork in the Capitol.
