Investigators on Saturday were looking for a man suspected of shooting his girlfriend's uncle after a family dispute Friday night at the couple's south Modesto home, police said.
Jaime Cordero, 27, of Modesto was wanted on a charge of assault with a deadly weapon, said Modesto police Lt. Scott Blom.
Cordero was last seen leaving the home in a white Acura. The injured man was taken to a local hospital, but he was expected to survive, Blom said.
The shooting occurred about 9:30 p.m. at the home in the 1800 block of San Ramos Court, just south of West Hatch Road and east of South Carpenter Road.
Blom said Cordero and his girlfriend were fighting, and her relatives went to the home to intervene. He said Cordero then shot his girlfriend's uncle several times before leaving the home.
No other injuries were reported.
Police ask anyone with information about Cordero's whereabouts to call Crime Stoppers at (209) 521-4636.
