Motorcyclist dies in wreck near Ripon's Mistlin Sports Park

RIPON -- A motorcyclist witnesses say was traveling at a high rate of speed was killed Sunday night in Ripon, authorities said.

At 7:56 p.m., Ripon police were called to the intersection of North Ripon Road and West River Road just east of the Mistlin Sports Park.

When they arrived, they found the motorcylist who apparently had struck a pole, according to Sgt. Steve Merchant of the Ripon Police Department.

The rider did not survive the crash, he said.

The rider's gender or name were not released late Sunday night pending notification of family.
