Police identify suspect in Turlock stabbing

— Turlock police said Monday they have identified a suspect in a stabbing that left a woman with life-threatening injuries Friday night.

Police were looking for Monique Garza, 31, in connection with the stabbing, which occurred at 8:15 p.m. near Westside Ministries.

Garza faces a charge of attempted homicide.

Neighbors said the stabbing occurred near a house near the nonprofit organization's parking lot in the 900 block of High Street.

The victim's condition later was upgraded to stable, authorities said.

Lt. Nino Amirfar said detectives are investigating a motive.
