The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of two horses from a home northeast of Modesto. The horses were taken late Sunday or early Monday from a home at Claribel and Langworth roads.

The horse's owner said he fell ill Sunday. and he and his wife spent the night in the hospital. They didn't notice the horses were missing until about 9 a.m. Monday.

A neighbor said he saw a man Sunday afternoon who had parked a truck and trailer near the horse corral Sunday, according to deputy Andrew Winter. The man is described as white or Latino, 35 to 40 years old with a mustache. His truck is a silver or gray pickup with dual rear tires.

The male horses are named Jack and Twodogs. Jack is a 13-year-old reddish-brown quarterhorse whose left leg is white from his knee to his hoof, and he has a scar on one of his legs. Twodogs is a 15-year-old buckskin quarterhorse with a black mane and a scar on the left side of his neck.
