Regarding "The economy is courtesy of GOP" (Jan. 31, Letters): At last, a writer has expressed what I have been saying to Republican acquaintances for two years but they refuse to acknowledge — George W. Bush got us into this economy. President Obama inherited all the debts left by Bush.

During Bush's terms, 40,000 factories closed, which meant if each factory had 100 employees it put 40,000 people out of work. The GOP never mentions Bush's debits, his borrowing from China to boost the economy by sending all taxpaying citizens a check written on borrowed money and putting our country deeply in debt.

During Bush's terms, the very wealthy were given more tax cuts, more loopholes. Bush and Dick Cheney ignored the United Nations' disapproval of invading Iraq on the flimsy, lied about 'weapons of mass destruction" and went ahead and started a war which has taken untold numbers of young lives.

Now Mitt Romney has the gall to say, "I'm not concerned about the very poor ... the very rich are doing just fine." Romney is running one of the dirtiest campaigns I've seen in my 81 years. His real reason for attacking President Obama is his race prejudice.
