No known suspects in west Modesto shooting

MODESTO -- A Modesto man was shot in the stomach Sunday night after an argument broke out west Modesto, authorities said.

Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department deputies were called to the 1200 block of Pelton Avenue at 6:19 p.m. after a report of a shooting, according to Sgt. Anthony Bejaran, a sheriff’s department spokesman.

When deputies arrived, much of the crowd had dispersed and the 20-year-old shooting victim from Modesto had been taken by friends to a nearby hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, Bejaran said.

Bejaran said information about the shooting was scant, and there were no known suspects identified as of Monday morning.
