MJC’s Bachtelle expected to sign with Buffalo

Modesto Junior College defensive end Beau Bachtelle is expected to sign today to attend the University of Buffalo (N.Y.), a Division I affiliate and a member of the Mid-American Conference.

Bachtelle (6-foot-5, 255), a graduate of Summerville High and an MJC team captain, was named to the All-Valley Conference first team after a strong sophomore season. He was one of the team leaders in tackles and he scored the winning touchdown by falling on an errant punt snap during the Pirates' come-from-behind win over San Joaquin Delta.

"I instantly fell in love with the place, the overall unity of it all. I got the family vibe," Bachtelle said in reference to his visit to Buffalo.

The Bulls, 3-9 last fall, are rebuilding under third-year coach Jeff Quinn. They'll open at Georgia on Sept. 1.
