Woman arrested in alleged sexual assault at Modesto bar

A Modesto woman is in custody on suspicion of sexually assaulting another woman inside a bathroom of a west Modesto bar Thursday night.

About 10 p.m., the woman started flirting with her alleged victim at Manny's Cocktails at 420 Paradise Road, according to Sgt. Alex Bettis. Her advances were not well-received by the woman, who went into the restroom and was followed by the alleged perpetrator.

Inside the restroom, the woman is accused of sexually assaulting the victim for 30 minutes, Bettis said. The victim's friend eventually interrupted the attack, police said, and the suspect tried to take her cell phone to prevent her from calling police.

Officers found the suspect outside of the bar and arrested her.

Cherese Robbins, 39, was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, sexual battery on a restrained person and robbery. She also had a warrant for her arrest for driving under the influence.
