Two men stabbed in west Modesto on Thursday night did not sustain life-threatening injuries and their attacker is in custody.

The victims, described as men in their 40s, were taken to area hospitals for treatment after being stabbed near Maple Street and Martin Luther King Drive about 7 p.m. One was stabbed in the stomach and the other in the back, authorities said.

The attacker broke into a nearby house in an effort to avoid arrest, authorities said, which prompted a fight with the residents, who alerted officers.

Luis Gonzalez, 20, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and probation violation.
