-- The anticipated shootout happened Saturday night between Cal State East Bay and Cal State Stanislaus.

The Warriors won it, thanks to Reggie Jones.

Jones, the California Collegiate Athletic Association's top scorer (18.8 ppg), strafed the Pioneers for 30 points to deliver Stanislaus' third straight victory, 93-82.

The road-trip sweep improved Stanislaus to 11-5 overall and 7-5 in the CCAA. The Warriors now are grouped among seven contenders all within a game of each other in the standings.

The 6-foot-9 Jones buried 9 of 16 shots from the floor and made 12 of 14 free throws. He also pulled six rebounds and blocked six shots and reached the 30-point mark for the third time this season.

Stanislaus scored the game's first 13 points and led by as many as 21 before East Bay (7-8, 5-6) rallied to tie 63-63 with 11 minutes left. Stanislaus restored order with a 10-4 run. A jumper by Sam Marcus gave the Warriors a double-digit lead with 4:31 to go.

Ronnie Sawyer also starred for the Warriors with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Marcus had 14 points on 6-of-7 shooting and Dan Daviess had 13 points.

East Bay was led by Mark Samuels, the CCAA's No. 3-leading scorer, with 26 points.

CSUS WOMEN — The Warriors (2-10, 5-11) dressed only seven players but fought hard before falling to Cal State East Bay 67-59. Sophomore forward Erin Godde scored a career-high 17 points and hit three of the team's eight 3-pointers. Briana Colton also had a trio of triples and finished with 11 points also with Rosa Tirado.

Jameiz Terrell totaled 16 points for the second straight night for the Warriors, who led 48-45 eight minutes into the second half. Marlene MacMillan paced the Pioneers (6-11, 3-8) with 25 points. East Bay outrebounded Stanislaus 52-27, including 23 offensive rebounds.

UC MERCED — Aki Chambers poured in 25 points and George Idehen grabbed 17 rebounds to lead the Bobcats (3-9, 2-3) to a 77-66 Cal Pac Conference win over Simpson College at Hostetler Court. UC Merced surged after leading by only 32-31 at halftime.
