The Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department did not have any developments to report Sunday in its investigation of a newborn found dead at a Waterford bait shop and convenience store.
A man searching for aluminum cans found the infant in a garbage can next to the gas pumps Thursday night at the Bait Barn.
An autopsy was conducted, but the cause of death — including whether the baby was stillborn — had not been determined. Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Jon McQueary at (209) 525-7099.
