Lakewood Elementary saluted its longtime janitor Jim Loveless on Wednesday, gathering students for a short assembly to say goodbye.
Loveless retired after18 years at the school and 25 with the Modesto City Schools district. Kids were amazed to learn he has a kayak and once delivered baby guinea pigs, but they gave a collective "eeeewwww" at hearing his favorite food is salad.
Loveless said the best part of his job was "to be out with the children at lunchtime. I get to be the grandfather."
