The last ball has been rolled in the 2011 Modesto USBC City Tournaments, which spans two weekends. And several divisions saw new leaders emerge.
In the men's team division, Glover made up of Richard Camp, Terry Osborn, Dave Ramsey, Freddy Irvin and Scott Bartlow combined for a 3,732 total to eclipse the first weekend's top score in the Men's Division. Ramsey rolled an 804 set on games of 279-235-290, and Irvin added a 300 game.
In men's doubles, Rick Bates and Mike Keough rolled a 1,536 to take over the top spot.
In women's doubles, Kim Eichorst and DonDra Drumond slipped into the top spot with a 1,334 score.
Eichorst was on a roll. She moved into the top spot in Women's Singles with a 724 set.
All-Events lists were divided into four categories. Men's Scratch is held by Scott Christensen with a 779-705-714 for 2,198. Carol Serpa the newest inductee in the Modesto Bowling Hall of Fame, tallied 694-668-616 for a 1,978 to lead the Women's list.
Handicap leaders are Jackie Wilson for the women (2,070) and Dale Lachapelle for the men (2,191). The association has 30 days to verify averages, make the list official and prepare the prize list.
Last week it looked like the "From Dreams to In Between" team broke the association 5-man team record. But in a second look, it was the Biggins team from 2009 that set the record with a 3,706 score. Thanks to Bill Hamilton for the heads up on this.
Janet Spooner and Ray Reim were the top turkeys in the McHenry Turkey Shoot. Spooner led the women at 926. Shelley Gibbs was second (823), and two pins away was Betty Tull (821). Reim scored a 906 that was good for the top of the men's list.
Don Surdich, my counterpart at the Merced Sun-Star, was second at 897. Jim Eccleston was third (888).
Dave Moren, Dylan Torrez and Rick Ealy teamed to win the Men's Kegler Tournament at McHenry with a 2,452 total. Jim Bass, Phillip Brome and Eddie Waring were second (2,410) and Jerry Strain, David Brown and Fritz Klatt were third (2,393).
Justin Saaty in the Del Rio league posted his first 300 game. The 55 & Older No-Tap Tournament runs at Yosemite on Friday starting at 1 p.m.
McHenry Bowl is again a drop-off location for Channel 10 "Coats for Kids" and the "Can-Do" Food Drive for Inter-Faith Ministries. Drop off new or gently used coats or nonperishable food in barrels in the lobby. The bowl will also be collecting travel/sample size shampoos, soaps, etc. for the homeless shelters.
If you want to work off a few Thanksgiving calories, both bowling centers will be open Thursday.
Yosemite will be open 24 hours, and McHenry will be open from 9 a.m through midnight on Thanksgiving.
Sign-ups are open for the New Year's in Paris No-tap at McHenry on Dec. 31. Festivities start at 11:30 a.m. with a buffet lunch; tournament bowling starts at 12:30.
