Modesto Schools candidate won't seek a recount

Amy Neumann will take the third seat on the Modesto City Schools Board next month.

She and Solange Altman were neck and neck throughout the vote count, with the final tally putting Neumann 23 votes ahead.

Over the weekend, Altman said she would not ask for a recount.

The top three vote-getters in the nine-way race were Cathy Flores Hallinan with 11,205, or 16.1 percent of the vote; Steve Grenbeaux with 10,128, or 14.6 percent; and Amy Neumann with 8,812, or 12.7 percent.
