Services provided: Mobile lunch program serves nine communities in Stanislaus County. Anyone who comes to the truck can get a lunch at no cost. We go into neighborhoods where there is need.
Emergency food box program provides three meals a day for three days for each member of the household, serving Hughson and Turlock residents.
Clothes closet program provides clothes to people in need.
Homeless supportive services provide showers, laundry, mailing address and referral to assist homeless individuals.
How we help those in need: Millee Johnson is 83 and depends on our emergency food box program on a regular basis. Millee's fixed income barely covers her basic living expenses such as rent and utilities. Through our food box program, she has been able to supplement her meager food budget with nutritious meals that help meet her needs. Millee compares our current economic conditions to the Great Depression. She sees our food box program as a "modern day soup kitchen" and thanks the Lord for this service.
Individuals and/or families assisted per month: The monthly average for our mobile lunch program is 32,000 lunches.
We assist an average of 266 families (573 individuals) monthly with our emergency food box program.
On average, 313 individuals a month are assisted in our clothes closet program.
40 individuals use our homeless supportive services on a daily basis.

Volunteer update: We have volunteer opportunities in the kitchen helping to prepare the lunches, assisting with the preparation and distribution of emergency food boxes, in the clothes closet helping clients or sorting the donated items, in the warehouse sorting donated food items from canned food drives, and in the office with folding and stuffing of our newsletter. Esther is our volunteer coordinator. Her phone number is(209) 668-4853. Volunteers are vital to our programs.
New and/or noteworthy: We're very proud of our unique Daily Bread Lunch Program, which delivers nutritious meals directly into the neighborhoods where very low-income and homeless individuals reside. Our programs ensure that people living in these neighborhoods have access to at least one nutritious meal a day, five days a week. We also distribute information regarding other supportive services, such as local food box programs, holiday food box programs, the Cal Fresh Program and other services that can assist those who are at risk.
